Recognizing a familiar face
Up earlier, i went to the PIIE Congress with my friends in UPLB. After the seminar in the morning, we've decided to signup for the ecotour since it was bo-ring to watch the quiz contest. So after we've signed up, we turn to proceed to the jeep that was assigned to our group.
It was quite a big group and we were with other schools. Since the atmosphere was quite awkward, one girl started the conversation and told everyone that why don't we introduce ourselves to each other. And so we did. Afterwards, she told me that my face looked familiar and she asked me what my high school was. At this point i was already a bit confused, and so when i told her what my high school was (just the name) and then she said the location...
I was shocked! She also told me that she used to see me around the campus. I couldn't believe that somebody would recognize me in a crowd.. or at least notice that i am around. Haha. Plus, it was a very long time ago so i think the chances of remembering anything about me would be reaaally slim.
And then i thought of what i was doing when i was in high school... i was just an average student, with average grades and unique friends (i'm not saying they're average because each of them has an x-factor of their own ^^). I was not with the popular crowd either (cept for one of my friends who is the 'crush ng bayan' hehe) and neither was i active with extracurricular activities. I was just one of those ordinary, regular students.. so i really can't imagine somebody taking notice of me. Actually, i think what bothered(?) me is the fact that there is someone who can notice me. Haha. I guess i'm being weird. I think this just proves that it's something we can't really avoid. We just don't walk around wearing an invisibility cloak.
But then again, maybe it's the group of people that i hang around with that i get to have some share of their attention... haha. It's logical right? And it's not something that's impossible to happen either. So yeah, maybe that really is the reason behind it. I wanted to ask if she saw me often or where she saw me often... but then i also felt kind of awkward afterwards. Maybe because i really don't know her so it was quite hard to start a conversation with her. I also tried thinking if i saw her on campus, but to no avail... i was just not familiar with people in batches lower than me aside from those who are always on the frontline... I also thought of what could be her impression of me, but my head was already spinning with the information so i didn't bother thinking further about it.
Thank god, the trees were entertaining enough to rid me of the shock. Especially of that 500+ meter hiking up the closed raptor area (forgot what they call it).
